Mill

Get the most out of your malt

Get the most out of your malt with mills engineered specifically for breweries and distilleries. The right grind profile improves extraction, increases brewhouse and distillery yields, and keeps your system running efficiently. From compact two-roll setups to larger multi-roll systems, we design mill solutions around your process, space, and growth plans.

Roller Mills

Roller Mills

Sasquatch brewery roller mill

Malt Handling is the exclusive North American distributor for Sasquatch Roller Mills — purpose-built milling solutions engineered specifically for breweries and distilleries. Fabricated in the USA and refined through over a decade of industry experience, Sasquatch mills deliver consistent grist quality, improved extract efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Our lineup includes single-pair (2-roll), double-pair (4-roll), and triple-pair (6-roll) mills, allowing you to match the mill to your capacity and grain bill needs. From compact two-roll mills for smaller craft operations to larger multi-roll configurations designed for continuous production, Sasquatch mills offer the control and repeatability required for modern brewing and distilling.

All Sasquatch mills provide precise adjustment of roll gap setting, enabling fine control over throughput and grist profile. With centrifugally cast rolls — the highest standard in the industry — these mills maintain accuracy and performance over years of operation. Whether you’re planning a new build or upgrading capacity, we can size the right mill and integrate it cleanly into your overall grain handling system.

Hammer Mills

Hammer Mills

Hammer mill for distilleries

For distilleries or grain profiles that require a finer crush — especially corn, rye, wheat, and other tough or high-volume grains — a hammer mill is often the best solution. Malt Handling supplies hammer mills capable of processing approximately 2,000 to 20,000 lbs per hour, with screens available in a wide range of sizes to achieve your target particle profile.

Our hammer mills feature a spring-loaded door plate and closed-cell foam seal for dust-tight operation, creating a cleaner and safer workspace. Optional components include magnetic inlets, dust-port-equipped hoppers in various sizes, stainless steel construction, and custom transition pieces that allow the mill to integrate seamlessly with your conveying system.

Hammer mills are ideal for distilling environments where high throughput, fine grind, and consistent particle size are essential. We can help size the correct mill for your process, grain mix, and production targets, and design the upstream and downstream handling to support it.

Bühler Systems

Bühler Mills & Grain Handling

For larger or high-throughput breweries, distilleries, and malt houses, Malt Handling partners with Bühler to offer premium milling and grain preparation equipment. Bühler solutions are well suited for facilities that require higher capacity, consistent performance, and room to scale.

Buhler 4-Roller mill Minicompact SE MDZE

Through this partnership, we can help you evaluate and implement Bühler solutions such as:

  • Roller / grist mills: Smartgrist 4-roller mills, Minicompact SE 4-roller mills, and Maltomat III 4- or 6-roller universal grist mills. Designed for malt and unmalted grain, these systems support strong husk integrity, efficient lautering, and consistent grist quality.
  • High-throughput hammer mills: Bühler Granulex® 5 Series hammer mills for dry-grind and distilling-scale applications, well suited for higher volumes and tougher grains such as corn, rye, and wheat.
  • Grain cleaning & destoning: Destoners and separators, including Bühler MTSD units, used to remove stones and other foreign material while protecting downstream milling equipment.
  • System integration: We design the surrounding material-handling layout, including discharge, conveying, transitions, supports, and weighing, so Bühler equipment operates as part of a unified, installation-ready system.

Whether you are expanding capacity or building a new facility, we help determine when a Bühler solution is the right fit and then design the upstream and downstream handling to support it. Our goal is to integrate each Bühler component into a cohesive, reliable grain handling system that aligns with your workflow and long-term growth plans.

Used Equipment

Used Equipment

In addition to new milling and grain handling equipment, Malt Handling can occasionally source used or surplus components for breweries, distilleries, and related facilities. Availability varies, but used equipment can be a practical option for projects with tighter budgets, temporary capacity needs, or phased upgrades.

Depending on what is available, used equipment may include items such as roller mills, hammer mills, augers, conveyors, or other grain handling components. In many cases, this equipment comes from system upgrades, plant expansions, or facility changes where serviceable equipment is being replaced.

We do not maintain a full online catalog of used equipment. Instead, we use these conversations to understand your process, space, and goals, and to determine whether a used component makes sense for your application. In some cases, a used solution can serve as a short-term step before transitioning to new equipment as production grows.

If you are exploring used equipment, reach out to start the conversation. We can help evaluate fit, condition, and integration, and outline new equipment alternatives when they offer better long-term value.
