Storage

Storing more grain makes more cents

Effective bulk storage simplifies day-to-day operations and supports smarter purchasing decisions. Storing larger volumes of raw materials allows you to take advantage of bulk deliveries, while dedicated spent grain storage can reduce handling time and improve overall housekeeping.

Malt Silos and Bins

Malt Silos and Bins

Malt storage is often overlooked during new builds and expansions. Buying malt in bulk can reduce raw material costs compared to bagged deliveries, but it also requires a practical solution for keeping grain protected, organized, and accessible within a busy facility.

A properly designed malt bin or silo protects grain from weather and contamination while reducing the floor space required for storage. It also minimizes manual handling and improves overall workflow. For many operations, the operational and cost benefits add up quickly. In practice, some facilities see payback in a relatively short period, especially when switching from bagged malt to bulk deliveries.

We offer a wide range of bin and silo options to suit different layouts, capacities, and climates. Available materials include welded and epoxy-coated steel, stainless steel, fiberglass, and corrugated bolt-together steel. Systems are sized and built for long service life in demanding environments.

Grist Cases

Grist Cases

Custom grist case for malt handling and batching

Malt Handling designs and fabricates custom grist cases in stainless steel, painted carbon steel, or polymer construction. Grist cases can be ground mounted or suspended above a mash or lauter vessel, depending on space and process requirements.

Cases can be equipped with load cells for weighing and batching and integrated with upstream milling and downstream conveying equipment to support consistent and repeatable grist delivery.

Bulk Bag Stands

Bulk Bag Stands

Bulk bag unloading stands for grain and specialty ingredients

Bulk bag stands are a practical option for mid-sized brewing and distilling operations or for specialty ingredients that do not justify silo storage. They help reduce bag handling while keeping ingredients accessible and organized.

We provide customized unloading stations for bulk bags up to 2,500 lbs. Units are available in epoxy-coated carbon steel or stainless steel and can be configured with agitation, hoists, low-headroom designs, and a variety of discharge transitions to suit your layout.

Buckhorn CenterFlow Container

Buckhorn CenterFlow Container

Buckhorn CenterFlow container for reusable bulk material handling

The reusable CenterFlow™ Container from Buckhorn is designed to transport and dispense seed, granular, and pelletized materials. Its smooth, funnel-shaped interior supports reliable flow and efficient emptying. Learn more on our Accessories Page.

CenterFlow Container Rack

CenterFlow Container Rack

CenterFlow container rack for dispensing into conveying systems

The CenterFlow Container Rack allows portable containers to be handled in a similar way to bulk bags. Containers can be swapped on a single rack or staged in series to dispense into chain disk conveyors or flex augers.

Racks can be equipped with load cells or paired with other weighing options to support batching and integrate mid-size, unbagged loads into your process.

Bag Dump Stations

Bag dump station hopper for specialty and small batch additions

Available in 5 or 20 cubic foot capacities, bag dump hoppers can be connected to conveying systems to integrate specialty and small batch additions. Units are welded and powder coated, with custom sizes, stainless steel construction, and table connections available upon request.

Spent Grain Silos

Elevated spent grain bins with drive-thru support structures simplify disposal by allowing material to be offloaded directly into trailers. Dedicated spent grain storage can also help reduce odor issues associated with prolonged storage.

Spent grain bins can be configured with discharge pumps for ground mounting or knife gates for gravity discharge or connection to discharge augers. Stainless or mild steel welded construction is available, along with heating and insulation options for cold-weather climates.
